Maronite Outreach is a parish-based program that aims at the creation of a grassroots effort for the preservation of Christianity in Lebanon. It works from within the church and in the light of the directives issued by Pope John Paul II in order to ensure the survival of our faith, heritage, and values, and the continuation of our mission of love in Lebanon.
Our goals are to:
- Develop and execute projects that ensure the return of displaced families and discourage emigration
- Provide assistance to Christian institutions in Lebanon
- Maintain ties between the Christians of Lebanese heritage in the USA and Christians in Lebanon
- Increase awareness about the heritage and the current situation of Christians in Lebanon
Did You Know?
- The number of war-displaced in Lebanon is 847,000*, 81% of whom are Christian?
- Since the end of the war in 1990, and despite the identification of the displaced as a "national priority" by the government, no more than 20% of the displaced has been repatriated?
- In the repatriated villages, people live without resources: no jobs, no medical services, and very few schools?
- Failure to repatriate the displaced risks making permanent the drastic demographic changes that have taken place in many areas of Lebanon?
